Simply Inc. Founder On Making Connections + Mommyhood

February 21, 2017

My name is Sarah Boyd, and I have many passions, but I am most passionate about helping others find THEIR passion and true purpose in life. I’ve been a ‘connector’ since I was a little kid and truly find joy in connecting friends (I’m quite the matchmaker) and business relationships. It’s so exciting to have all of my relationships intertwine and of course, if I’m involved…even better!

By living MY passion, I have created a fruitful business that doesn’t feel like work every day. I get to unite hundreds of like-minded women in cities around the world for our Simply Stylist Conference. The event features many panels of expert speakers, breakout sessions for learning opportunities, and brand experiences. I’ve seen countless opportunities spark at Simply Stylist — from business partnerships, to successful product launches, to brand collaborations — and that is something I didn’t have when I started out in the fashion industry.

Drive isn’t something you can teach — you either have it or you don’t. You can see on the @simply Instagram that we consistently post #SimplyQuotes to inspire others to keep pushing. Some days are great, others are hard, but those hard days make me want to go in and compete that much more. I always pride myself in being kind to everyone in all my years in the workforce, whether that person is someone that can help me at the time or not. You never know where people will shift in this industry and that has definitely helped me get to where I am today.

About three years ago, I expanded the business and started our agency side of the company where we represent celebrity bloggers. Our clients come to us with an idea, and we fully execute a website that is another avenue of revenue for them. We are there for every step of the process, from selecting a web developer, to content creation, to advisory, to brand partnerships, and monetization. Again… I love seeing others grow and succeed, and most of my client relationships started out of friendships. I feel so blessed to be able to work with so many incredible women (and some men)!

Then, I come home from work and get to put on my ‘mommy’ hat. This is my other passion: FAMILY. As much as I love my job, I love my family 10 times more. I just had a baby (Ava) a year ago and I didn’t know the meaning of love until I looked into her eyes. Each day I’ve fallen more and more in love with her, and also my husband. There is nothing hotter than seeing your husband as a father!  When we met 10 years ago, he had two boys already (Austin + Arion), so I’ve had years of practice. My favorite part of the day is when we all gather for a family dinner and watch The Bachelor together. Oh, and watching the boys and their new sister??!  I have tears in my eyes thinking about it! Just too cute.

In addition to motherhood, I’m also a wife. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the best housewife! I can’t stand cleaning and home décor has never been my strong suit. When we bought our house about a year ago, I put my business hat on and thought to outsource in my weak areas, which might have been the best decision I made!! I hired a company named Homepolish — they came in, designed my home, did all the shopping, setup, delivery…you name it. This was music to my ears. I put together a Pinterest board of my vision and was very involved with the decision-making process. Then, my designer, Jennifer Wallenstein, made it come to life!

My first priority was comfort! The sectional is certainly one of the centerpieces of any home, and we tend to have a lot of friends and family over and enjoy cozying up on the sectional in the evenings. Mine was purchased at Living Spaces, and it might be the most comfortable sectional ever. Plus, it is also super chic! It fits the whole family (including our pup Sofi, who loves to snuggle up in it) and never seems to get dirty, even though it’s a beige color. Reminder – we have 3 kids and one is a baby! The best part was the price. The cost was mind-blowing compared to other designer and custom sofas we’ve had in the past!

I guess you can say that I have a few passions that all come together to make me an INCREDIBLY blessed and thankful woman.  Each year I make a vision board of what I want for the year to come, and this is one of the first years that I am 1000% happy and content with where my life is.  And that is so thrilling to be able to type!

All of these passions are a reflection of who I am, and I think if you’re happy with your life and who you are as a person, it shows in all aspects and relationships and brings more happiness.  I try to be positive and ‘glass half full’ in all situations, and you should, too.
